Our client develops, invests, and delivers solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects through Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) services in North America. The Head of SI will lead technical items about utility scale energy storage project development (PV+S or Standalone) as well as cultivating, building and leading the SI team. This position reports to the President or another senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. This position is located in Irvine, California and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm. This position may be expected to travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities
Effectively build the SI Team from the ground up through a people-centric leadership approach that’s modeled after QCELLS shared vision of performance excellence, team collaboration, and innovation.
Provide executive level mentorship to employees within the SI Team and across the organization.
Execute on action-oriented leadership in the day-to-day operations and lead with a scalable growth mindset to achieve short-term & long-term goals.
Establish reputation as a subject matter authority to maintain effective liaison with external parties such as developers, advisors, utilities, local authorities, SI contractors, professional associations, consulting and solar industry research firms.
Lead in key decisions to acquire and source business intelligence SI information on market data, industry standards, global economy, consumer trends, and competitive conditions.
Size and optimize utility scale energy storage projects;
Technology selection and preliminary design of Storage system for development projects;
Manage, plan and coordinate external resources such as system integrator, battery/PCS OEM, EMS, dispatching optimization provider and revenue forecasting consultant;
Simulate the technical performance of energy storage systems for technical and commercial system analyses in conjunction with PV power plants;
Assessment and analyses use case of storage revenue modeling;
Develop organic or inorganic capability of battery SCM and application of advanced technology for sustainable storage project development and operation;
Integration with utility EMS including bidding software/QSE
Supervise energy storage system interconnection in collaboration with the Project Manager during planning and construction to assure quality and execution according to schedule;
Prepare bidding documentation for project specific energy storage system works and equipment;
Create and maintain drawing packages and project documentation;
Manage and coordinate external resources such as engineer consultants, other specialized professionals as needed in the design, construction and commissioning of energy storage systems;
Develop and review specifications, bill of materials, scopes of work, standards and quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors;
Establish and maintain the engineering, design criteria and applicable standards and specifications for BESS projects
Provide recommendations for continuous i

mprovements in project designs, plans, processes and product development;
Lead the System Integration team in developing best practices, maintain market overview of the energy storage components, evaluate new technology developments for energy storage systems
Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results;
Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or another related engineering science
Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience in the power industry
Possess an executive presence and confidence to communicate effectively with a different array of audiences that include but are not limited to cross-functional teams, management, peer groups, clients, vendors, contractors, HQ and other key stakeholders.
Relevant work experience with grid connected energy storage systems
Strong network/access to OEMs
Expertise in understanding of supply chain in Energy Storage
Detailed knowledge and understanding of all phases of the solar PV power plant development, including engineering, procurement, and construction and project management
Experience working with project developers and understanding of the RFP process
Solid experience with current storage systems technologies and processes, and remain current on best practices and trends in the industry
Have both long-term strategic perspective and near-term action orientation, strong desire to continuously improve and push limits
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to c-suite, management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders both verbally and in writing
Strong experience with modeling energy storage systems
Experience in permitting processes with local authorities having jurisdiction, preferred.
Knowledge relevant codes and regulation such as the National Electric Code, grid codes, EHS codes, etc.
Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player
Willingness to travel, at least 25% of the time
Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent)
Strong in Microsoft Office Suite
